Beat The Staff FINAL information! - SpaceDominator @ 02:00 AM
I know it is in Headline form. I want people to understand this! The Beat the Staff Event will happen this Monday and Tuesday. On Monday go to the channel "SC Millennium" through BW where one of us will be there at around 12:00 on. In that channel you will organize your matches against the staff. Please take screenshots of events that you feel are important and/or remember what happened in the game. I am going to keep a Page called "Battles of the Staff", where all of these stories will be held.(This will help the strategy guide out some. This would be used to demonstrate different things in Starcraft and how strategies really are different in original sc.) Anyone who took part in any of those games may email their thoughts to ME not Agelmar(ME!). On Tuesday, go to the channel "SC Millennium" through original Starcraft where one of us will be there again around 12:00 on. We will update everyone on the totals and we'll conclude the events in this evening. I am thinking about running a mini tournament at the end of the day, with the Best 4 players(2 staff, 2 community)versing each other on one final 2v2 to Conclude the ceremonies. On Monday I will be introducing how the day will go and how the matches should occur. IF.. none of us are there at the time just wait. Things can HAPPEN. So.. In Conclusion See you guys on Battle.Net through BW on Monday. Oh yeah, say your prayers community. hehe. It should be a ton of fun, and I hope to see you there.
Thanks,
SpaceDominator
P.S. If You see me on B.Net Through the name "SpaceDominator", please whisper me and I'll happily go to the channel to get everything going..

New project at SC Legacy - Squaredot @ 6:12 PM
A top secret project is in the works over at SC Lecacy. I'm not really sure if it is completely top secret or not, but its fun to think it is :). It's going to be a new campain entitled "The Fenix", and it will be Brood War enhanced. Check for it within the next couple of days, cause thats when its supposed to be going live. It should be released pretty soon because SC Legacy already has an icon for it on the top of their page.

StarDraft 1.04 information - Squaredot @ 6:07 PM
Looks like the boys at Camelot Systems are at it again. Merlin plans on updating the StarDraft engine for compatability with Starcraft 1.04, and King Aurthur is going to be updating Arsenal II. King Aurthur also said that he would release the Brood War MPQ ID file the same time the new version of StarDraft is released. You can read his update of StarDraft which is on the main page here.

BW install problems? - Squaredot @ 5:59 PM
MVP (Most Valuable Helper) :) posted in the bnet forums awhile ago some help if you are having trouble install Brood War. Here is a copy of his post:Some people have experienced problems installing Brood Wars. It does not happen often but when it does it sucks. What will happen is either the install will just freeze or give an error message that a temporary file could not be deleted.

In order to fix this, copy the file install.exe from the Brood War CD to your hard drive and run install.exe from there. After Brood War successfully installs you can delete the install.exe file.

Hope this helps someone,   The Helper

I hope no one is having trouble installing Brood War, and if you are, I hope you find help fast. Brood War is a great expansion!

Merry Christmas and Terran Detection - SpaceDominator @ 11:48 PM
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! Now here's what I want to say about BW:
Terran Detection
Agelmar, hinted on this tip but I want to expand onto it. The Comsat Station might be short term, but it's pulse can be extremely useful. If the terran player plays like a Terran he will have a powerful defense. This would then allow the player to destroy the opposing threat through bunkers, and other vehicles. To Use Comsat Station properly, you want to Shortcut key it(Press Ctrl-1 while selected on Comsat). Then all you have to do is press Alt-1, and click on Scanner Sweep and you have detection for 50 energy. The Terrans are the cheapest race in the game of Starcraft, but that doesn't mean they are impossible to win with.
My $0.02
P.S. Hope ya guys see our puzzles... Busy Again!(Man, I thought I wasn't gonna be). Oh well, BW is cool and I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their holidays.
Thanks,
SpaceDominator

My First Multiplayer game of BW!!! - Overlord @ 2:59 PM
Well I just played my first game of mulitplayer BW!!! I played what ended up as a 2 on 3 cpu to get the feel for BW and what the cpu's are like...well it was SO easy!! I made Dark Templar as fast as a I could. 6 DT's along with 6 Zealots I rushed one of the Toss cpu's... I went straight for there cannons, after I killed the 3 cannons they had. all I had to do was watch my DT's kill every building there!! I didn't even have to watch! I took the cpu out in like 2 minutes! I played with -FoC-Ace. I must say I've never seen anyone get Carriers as fast as this guy!!! The game lasted 29:07 and he had 9 Carriers with some more building by that time!! Great work! I also beat the Toss campaign the first night I got BW. It was sweet! If you don't have BW I definently recommend that you go and get it!

-Overlord out!

Spy tips! - Agelmar @ 3:48 PM
You want to spy on an enemy. What's the best way? Well, for terrans, there really isnt any great way. You can comsat, but that's noticable and short term. Same with sending in a cloaked unit. Protoss can mind control a critter, giving them command of that critter. They can move the critter, tell it to stop (when it "stops" it wanders around as usual, or they can have the critter patrol. The problem with this: The critter is marked as an enemy unit and is automatically fired upon. If you are Zerg however, you have a great advantage. Parasite! Parasite critters, people! They are not marked as enemy units that way, and you can see what the critter sees, and believe me, those little buggers get around! And nobody ever clicks on critters (Unless its their first time on a Tileset...)!!! It's a great strategy and it works. Last game i Parasited 30 critters... it was like my own little Spy Network... god i got good info outta that :-)

Site interaction board on StarDome - Squaredot @ 12:35 AM
Hitman over at StarDome has just told me about a new addition to his site: A message board for lesser known starcraft sites to post/interact. I think its a pretty good idea. Here is what he had to say

this message board was opened up so that the little SC sites can keep in touch with each other's news and can exchange their banners etc.
By the powers bested in me, i command you to go check it out here. :D

Further explaination of headline problem - NO NEWS WAS LOST. - Agelmar @ 12:24 AM
I can assure you that the headlines not archiving problem was an isloated incident. The script read the new date and tried to archive, but it couldnt. The headline files were rw-rw-r, but they needed to be rw-rw-rw. This was not a problem with the news file, so the news archived fine. We apologize for the inconvenience. All of Wednesday's news can be accessed on the news page - NONE OF IT WAS LOST. The only thing from Wednesday that was lost was the Headlines. Thank you.
Agelmar

Wednesday's headlines - pardon - Agelmar @ 12:15 AM
Sorry about this. When the news got manually rolled forward, something happened. The headline files for Wednesday got lost, but the news from Wednesday can still be found on the news page. Check it out, there's a lot of it! Sorry for the inconvenience!

StarHack is closing their doors :-( - Agelmar @ 7:46 PM
I went to http://starhack.ml.org and what did I see? Starhack is closing its doors! :-( Here is what the webmaster, Mark, had to say:

Unless you've been comatose for the last three months, I'm sure you've noticed the lack of activity here at StarHack. So, what happened? The truth is, I've been very busy. It's not easy to find the time to be a full-time student, work 15 hours a week, and maintain a web site like StarHack. I don't see my time situation changing anytime in the near future, either. So, that's that. It looks like this is the end of StarHack.

I intend to keep StarHack online for as long as possible, but I won't be updating it. With the shutdown of ml.org, however, there's no telling how long the starhack.ml.org domain will work.

There is still some hope of StarHack continuing, because I would consider letting someone else take over for me. If you're interested, you can e-mail me at mark@starhack.ml.org. If someone takes over StarHack, that person will have to find server space. And be forewarned, I will be very picky about the person to whom I give my site.

In closing, I'd like to thank some people. First off, I'd like to thank Secnuop, who's been with StarHack from the beginning, and has helped a great deal in this site's development. Another who deserves a round of applause is Ying, who provided space for StarHack on his Linux server. My gratitude also goes to all the great software developers who sent me their programs to post here. And finally, I'd like to thank all the visitors to this site; there'd be no StarHack without you! (No thanks go to Blizzard Entertainment or the Software Publishers Association.)

It's was great while it lasted!

-Mark
God... how sad... Starhack was a darn good site. Wellp, another SC site bites the dust.

Our mistake - Agelmar @ 7:07 PM
We're sorry, its "radio free zerg" for the hidden track, not "free radio zerg".

More Blizzard wallpaper - Squaredot @ 6:17 PM
Blizzard has updated their wallpaper page with the splash screens (those screens that come up inbetween the missions telling you where you are) from Starcraft and Brood War. They make a nice addition to the rest of the wallpaper already there. You can view Blizzard's wallpaper page right here.

Blizz has also changed the pic on their frontpage to something a little more christmasy :).

Brood War music - Squaredot @ 6:12 PM
King Aurthur has extracted the 3 new Brood War music tracks and put them up on his web page, Camelot Systems. Here is a copy of the email he sent me:

just wanted to quickly inform you all that I extracted, compressed, and uploaded the 3 new music tracks for Brood War and have posted them on the site. In addition I also put up the new Zerg bonus track - Radio Free Zerg. You can direct your people to my website (http://camelot.warzone.com/) to download them. Thanks.
Im interested in checking out the 'Disco Zerg Track'. I haven't gotten that far in single player to hear it.

A great response to my post about BW Terran weakness! Read it! - Agelmar @ 5:49 PM
Merkvah2-=FB=- sent me a great reply to me about my recent post in reguards to the Terran's weakness in BW. It was wonderfully written... here it is:

Most of the new units of the other races were built to counter Terran Ground power or defenses (lurkers, D webs, etc). If you take Terran Defenses, we have almost nothing. Tanks, in order to be at their max effectiveness, must be "dug in" and that means defensively. Bunkers are immobile, and thus defend a certain sector of ground, regardless of where that ground is.

The thing that really buggs me is that I was eagerly following the BW Beta tests, and BOTH of the new Terran units got MAJOR abilities removed from them in the name of balance - Valks lost "Afterburner" and Medics lost "Simultaneous Healing," making them almost innefectual in combat, as a beta tester reported to Blizz. What happened to the other races? Nada. It appears their new units hit the shelves exactly as Blizz envisioned them at the outset. Is it any wonder why Terrans are so weak? The stats showed them to be that way for Vanilla SC, and now the trend continues with BW. Better wraiths? Yeah, we needed em back in Vanilla. the fact that we have them now only means that the game took a step to being more balanced. Yay woo.

In case you couldn't guess, I play Terran a lot.

thanks!

Merkvah2-=FB=-

Wow... what a well written reply. This just goes to show that if you have any comments about any of our posts, send them in to me and they might get posted on the page! Thanks a bunch Merkvah2-=FB=-.

News Script fixed! - Agelmar @ 5:28 PM
I have personally taken it upon myself to fix the news script. I also rolled ahead the date, and manually archived all the news. Phew! We are still waiting for Gamesmania to get the subdomain broodwar.scmillennium.com working. Once that works, we will open the next day. (I really dont know what's taking them, it only takes three minutes... I've done it myself before... oh well).
Agelmar.

Pardon our dust! - Agelmar @ 5:10 PM
Pardon our dust! We were modifying the news script and it seems to have not rolled the date! We're sorry about that. The problem is being fixed.

Gamegurus.net down? - Squaredot @ 11:48 AM
I think Gamegurus and all of its hosted sites are down at the moment, i haven't been able to connect to any of them so far today. If anyone has any specific information as to the reason for the down time, don't hesitate to email me. Let's hope they get the problem fixed as soon as possible.

PGL 2on2 Terminated - Squaredot @ 11:45 AM
Well, it looks as if the 2on2 competiton that the PGL was going to have is off now. Thats a REAL shame, i was looking forward to the season, even though i wasn't going to play. There is always next season i suppose :(. Everyone that has signed up for the 2on2 competition is now signed up as singles. They did away with 2on2 and replaced it with 1on1 competition. Here is a statement:

The league is sorry to announce that due to technical issues that the PGL could not resolve in time for the current (Spring '99) season, the planned offering of StarCraft 2-on-2 (Strategy Teamplay) has been postponed, and will be replaced with StarCraft 1-on-1 competition. We sincerely regret the inconvenience and/or confusion this may cause some players, and we do hope to feature Strategy Teamplay in the next (Fall '99) season. All players who have registered to compete as part of a StarCraft 2-on-2 team are now considered registered as individual competitors in the StarCraft 1-on-1 format.
Hope the re-institute team play next season. And get rid of those horrible rush maps too. Hunters in the PGL?!

Attention Cheaters: Can't connect to battle.net? - DarkShade @ 5:19 PM
A post made by Mick of Blizzard concerning b.net connection and cheaters:

This is for all of you who have always been able to connect to battle.net, but now mysteriously cannot. Or, if when you do connect, there are only a few people online. I only have one this to say...stop using the map hack you cheater! Some versions of the new 1.04 map hack tweak your server list and will force you to connect to a private, non-Blizzard server. So, now because of your lack of sportsmanship; your username, password, and cd-key has been compromised. Have a nice day.

Blizzard Christmas card! - koreldar @ 8:46 PM
So my mom is sorting through our daily snail mail and she finds a letter in the bunch, that was addressed to me. I pick it up and and look at the return address and waddya know? It's from Cendant Corporation. So I rip it open hoping that maybe I won something. Oh well, it wasnt a free-bee but it was something definately cool. A christmas card with the picture of that Santa-Kerrigan giving a girl a Zerg larva drawn by Samwise on the cover and on the inside it said "You should see what we gave the naughty kids...". And the best part was that it was actually signed by Tony Gervase and Susan Wooley! I dunno, mebbe I'm just a little excited about that tidbit but I thought 'twas pimp!

Future SCMs of the week? - Squaredot @ 6:27 PM
Shlonglor just posted on the bnet forums that Blizzard will most likely switch between .scms and .scxs every other week. Thats a nice idea, people that have Brood War can still use scms. Check it out here.

Correct 1.04 changes txt - Squaredot @ 6:24 PM
Blizzard has the correct text now of all the changes that have taken place in the 1.04 patch. The post that Blizzard made on the bnet forums was missing a few changes. here they are.

StarCraft #1 again - Aiel @ 5:17 PM
Gamespot has voted StarCraft the #1 strategy game of the year. Like we didn't know that =) No, I am just kidding. It says it is a must get, but really people, if you don't have this game you are just crazy or damn lazy. I would have to go for the latter =). Here is the article if you want to check it out.

ISL - New SC League! - DarkShade @ 4:39 PM
A new League is born! The International Starcraft League is brouight to you by GameGurus. For more information and sign up go to http://isl.gamegurus.net ...I think I might join! Who wants to be on my team? :)

Starshack Strategy - Squaredot @ 11:56 AM
Chaplan has added another section to his 2on2 Bible. This one deals with a Zerg/Protoss team. Its a good article, check it out here.

Another sc.org departure !! - Mr. Insano @ 11:42 AM
Mercutio! has also left SC.org. Here is what he said.

I have barely done anything here in the past few months, mostly because the lust to play StarCraft has all but died in me. It's no fun at all to help maintain a webpage about a game you don't even play anymore, so I'm heading on out.

I have never been a quitter. To leave office before my term is completed is abhorrent to every instinct in my body. But as President, I must put the interest of America first. America needs a full-time President and a full-time Congress, particularly at this time with problems we face at home and abroad.

To continue to fight through the months ahead for my personal vindication would almost totally absorb the time and attention of both the President and the Congress in a period when our entire focus should be on the great hout inflation at home.

Therefore, I shall resign the Presidency effective at noon tomorrow. Vice President Ford will be sworn in as President at that hour in this office.

As I recall the high hopes for America with which we began this second term, I feel a great sadness that I will not be here in this office working on your behalf to achieve those hopes in the next 2 1/2 years. But in turning over direction of the Government to Vice President Ford, I know, as I told the Nation when I nominated him for that office 10 months ago, that the leadership of America will be in good hands.

In passing this office to the Vice President, I also do so with the profound sense of the weight of responsibility that will fall on his shoulders tomorrow and, therefore, of the understanding, the patience, the cooperation he will need from all Americans.

Hehe, leave it to him to copy the president......

Damn Funny - Aiel @ 02:09 AM
Well the title pretty much explains it all. Due to the lack of news and that I am on vacation and have a lot of time on my hands, well at least till Wednesday, I have found some pretty good sites out there. One of the funniest is www.suicide.com. It has some pretty good sound files. I recommend the mad cow one, almost fell on my ass I was laughing so hard. I hope this holds you over till the morning.

P.S. If you have any good news just send it over to me or one of the other guys and we will be sure to put it up.

Brood War Stuff - DarkShade @ 12:59 AM
I'm back! I haven't made any updates lately, well here's one now! Anyways, I have been real busy with our Brood War page! This answers why I'm not doing any posts! Expect to see the BW page very soon! Maybe even before christmas? Nah, unless we have get the rest of the staff to work! :) Anyways, we have a cool layout especially for our bw page, and maybe we could get a subdomain, broodwar.scmillennium.com ...Some of you may have seen the preview of the page, well I took it down, cause there was a problem when trying to view in IE4. If you want to see it now, well too late, just wait till it opens! :P

About Agelmar's post, the computer is INSANE, They make things faster, they dont' have to struggle with micromanagement, they don't have to scroll or click the mouse. They don't have to worry anything cause they're not like us! We have to click our mouses and move them fast, the computer doesn't have to do that. They know where we are cause they suppose to know! They don't have to scout or anything!... We have to struggle with these extra little things and the computer doesn't, that's why it's so INSANE. However, that's the way it has to be, Blizzard can't program the computer to play like a human! YES, It's INSANE, but we have to face it......

GX-Starcraft page - Squaredot @ 10:29 PM
I have read somewhere that GX-Starcraft has gotten a new layout, i dunno, sure looks like the old one to me. At any rate, they have many new features! Daily Tips, Weekly Strats, etc. This week's strat comes from Maynard and deals with going hard marines. Worth the read, check it out here.

Also, i haven't been post very much because playing Brood War has taken up much of my time now :). This game is awesome. Sorry that you didn't get a copy overlord :(, no one should go home without this one.

Stores **** me off!!! - Overlord @ 7:37 PM
Stores here where I live (canada) **** me off!!!! I got a cpu store to reserve me a copy of bw but of course they didn't!!! And they being as stupid as they are only order like 50 copies of BW when there are about 5000 or more peepz in my city that want it! So of course I have to wait another week and a half atleast to get it!!! Bastards!

Please take a minute... - Agelmar @ 5:03 PM
Please take a minute and go here. It is a post that I made about the imbalance of the strength of the computer in BW on the Battle Net BW forums. If we get a lot of replies to the post on the Blizz Forums, we might actually get something done about in v1.05. Thank you all.

Computer in BW - Agelmar @ 4:56 PM
The computer in BW is pratically stuck on Insane. I have played 6 3v1 computer games, and have lost five of them! Now make no mistake, I am a good player, with a SC win percentage of 82%, and the people I played with were just as good, but that computer... man! I tried attacking the computer once (it was protoss) with 20 Dark Templars with upgraded weapons and 2 observers, and all of my troops died! The computer was pretty far up the tech ladder, too. A minute later (literally) I had 5 Carriers up my but and Corsair Disruption Webs all around my base! And when we tried against a Zerg computer on the map (6)Cauldron.scx (which for those of you who don't have BW is a fresh BW map, Desert Tileset and a ton of expansions - 256x256) The computer had 12 expansions! We eventually died to control groups of Devourers and Lurkers, with a few Guardians on the side... Here is my opinion and that of 79% of the people in Brood War USA-3, "The computer is way too hard in BW. I hope Blizz knocks it down quite a bit in 1.05"

More on why Terrans are BAD - Agelmar @ 2:19 PM
I just lost my second straight game in a row playing terran. For the record, I have played 12 BW games, and the only ones I lost were my first two, when I was protoss and zerg. I was obsessed with building only Corsairs and Dark Templars for Protoss, and only Lurkers and Devourers for the Zerg. That's why I lost. But when I played Terran i got smarter. I played with a regular SC strategy and built only Medics as my BW unit of choice. I tried attacking with a group of Marines and a group of Meidcs. It failed utterly. I was up against Dark Templars one time, what a mess... then I was up against a group of Hydras/Lurkers... another failure. Hence i make my conclusion: The terrans have no good new units, and are made porrer by that. The valkyre just plain sucks: its air damage is only 5 per missile (there are 2), while a wraith, which is pretty much the same cost, does 20 some air damage. Go figure. The Medics really dont do that much for an attack, so all they can be used for is to suppliment defense, which works OK. Due to the lack of good units, the Terrans are now the weakest race. You can send in a control group of Battlecruisers, and they'll get "devoured" by devourers, or some Corsairs will come along with their Disruption web, keep the BC's from firing at air targets, and kill em one by one with ther little 5 damage blast (which fires extremely rapidly: another plus for the protoss: the Corsair's cooldown is practically nonexistant.) Due to the lack of new good units, the Terrans now are the least powerful, and worst, race in BW. Balance it Blizz.

7 Pages of Ladder Resets - SpaceDominator @ 12:39 PM
On the 7th Day of Christmas, Blizzard said to me: 7 Pages of Ladder Resets. Well, Blizzard's doing their job... they have reset 7 pages of people. The most notible Reset is X'DS~Insane:(
Now, like one of my friends says, "Give em the thumbs down." Yeah, I think Ladder players need to understand that cheating never pays. To the ones that don't cheat.. keep up the friendly play. That's my opinion for Today...
Thanks,

SD's Opinions - SpaceDominator @ 01:26 AM
Before I begin, this speech is not to harm Agelmar in any way, this speech is just been created to help state my opinion. I do not have BW Yet, but I know what the hell i'm talkin about. Once I get BW, I'm gonna remain loyal to the Terrans..(Not 100% of the time however) A race that can win..(but agelmar... disagrees..) Read on:
Fellow Terrans, from this day on, we need to proove our right, and honor, for being alive. If you read Agelmar's review of the Terran Race, he was stating that they were a race of dispcible tactics and lack for a solid detector. Do I agree with this? Never. The Terrans can survive on their own, and can keep up with the other two races as quick as we can spell M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I.(Now was, that with 2 P's or Q's?). The Terrans are a race that was meant on defense to help them survive up the tech-tree to become one of the more powerful races up to the top. The medics and the Valyrite's help allow this to become a reality quicker. Medics are supposed to be used for healing Terran Infantry units to make their lives longer. Well, guess what? I feel that Terran players should begin to use Medics and Marines for more DEFENSIVE purposes and leave other units that the Terrans have to do the attacking. The cloaking ability of Wraiths and Ghosts can help make the game more interesting and exciting. Dark Templars? Bah. They do 40 damage; they can kill a Marine in 1 swipe. Well, try this.. Put them into a Bunker.. Build a Missle Turret nearby the Bunker. Actually build 3. 4. Get the Academy and get Comsat Station it will allow you to do things like this. I have nothing wrong with Agelmar's opinions and such, but this time the corkscrew came loose. I get BW, I'll find tactics that work.. Or maybe Blizzard will update their Compendium?? Wink. To conclude, Terran Players Remain Loyal to us! You can survive, and you'll be more successful than you can ever imagine.
Well.. What a way to come back to updating: write a long speech. I also will be posting a remake of Agelmar's speech, with my opinions along the way. Well, I thought I'd just write this cause I red Agelmar's article and It got me thinking. When I'm thinkin.. life is over.. Monday, I will start updating everything at full speed, cause I got all the time in the world. This weekend is busy, and well.. it's 12:30 now.. so.. That's all she wrote.
Thanks,
SpaceDominator

Blizzard's column on Gamegurus - Squaredot @ 5:09 PM
GameGurus has gotten everything ready to go for Blacklizard's column page. It already has one article, his thoughts on the 1.04 patch. This is his WHOLE article, not the one on the bnet forums. Go check it out here, he should have more articles up next week. (I thinks its a weekly thing).

New address for StarDome - Squaredot @ 4:44 PM
Quick bit of news. The StarDome that we have in our links page can now be found here, instead of the link that is back there. Unless of course, somone has changed it ;). StarDome is a good site, check out the scm reviews, those are the best!

Blacklizard's corner - Squaredot @ 4:39 PM
Blacklizard is now writing colums for GameGurus. He also made a post on the bnet forums with his thoughts of the 1.04 patch. This string is really worth the read! People like [9]Agent911 and Annihilator-X17 have posted follow-ups for it. Don't delay and check it out now. His post is right there.

Diablo 2 has 3dfx support - Squaredot @ 4:34 PM

Text corrections for the 1.04 patch! - DarkShade @ 11:40 PM
http://www.battle.net/forums/starcraft-broodwar/posts/mu/53260.htm

Debation Topic: Reaver - SpaceDominator @ 11:11 PM
The Reaver. A Unit, that has been used so cheaply to kill people, and I personally hate it. Now, it can't kill me anymore! Hahaha. Now anyways, there is a debate going on about whether the Reaver should of remained as powerful as it was. Well.. Here's the post that started it, by Zileas, and Annihilator's post as well. Zileas Begins
Annihilator X-17's Idea: Just change your strategy People..
I will be doing more stuff tomorrow, then just a post. Then for 2 Weeks, it's updating Frenzy! YEAH! In other personal news, I pre-ordered Brood War, so I will have that by Christmas. See y'all tomorrow!
Thanks,
SpaceDominator

Patch on Blizz's page - Squaredot @ 9:21 PM
Blizzard now has a link to the 1.04 patch on their homepage. You can download it right here.

Ladder map problems? - Squaredot @ 9:14 PM
It seems whenever I try and play a game on the new ladder maps, the game kicks me and the host out on the countdown. Wonder if this is caused by the authentication of the ladder maps... If anyone else is having similar problems, or my problem is indeed the ladder maps themselves, please drop me a line. You can email right here. Thanks. BTW, the new 1.04 patch is great! Looks like old zerg builds aren't as effective anymore, and neither are shuttles + reavers.

DarkShade interview - Squaredot @ 7:40 PM
Our very own DarkShade was interviewd today by Sarudo. He posted it on his page The Starcraft Times. You can read the interview here.

Zileas on unit drop cooldown - Squaredot @ 4:33 PM
Zileas has made a post on bnet complaining about unit drop cooldowns. Personally i think the only reason he has a problem with it is becuase he only makes reavers and dragoons. You can read his post here.

Honest’[sg] wins game 4 - Squaredot @ 11:43 PM

:+:jolly 1 game
Honest’[sg] 3 games

I wonder who is going to win the next match... ( Honest’[sg] ) only needs one more victory to clench the tourney. You can view the battle summary of game 4 here.

We're (the US and Britain) attacking Iraq! - Agelmar @ 6:56 PM
URGENT BREAKING NEWS: WERE BOMBING IRAQ
We, the US and Britain, are attacking Iraq. The US is leading the attack. We (the US) have sent over 100 Tomahawk cruise missiles, some of which have already hit their target, some minutes away. The president is making a statement in two minutes. It is all part of a 3 day attack, at the least. Tomorrow, bombers will most likely fly in and bomb the underground bunkers of Saddam with special 500 ton bombs. Ground troops may also come in. I generally don't pray, but let us all say a prayer tonight for the troops stationed in the Gulf and for the innocent people in Iraq, and anyone else whose life may be at stake. Amen.
Agelmar, lead webmaster.

Third, I recieved an email from Ryan Thompson which states the following.

Dear StarCraft Community,

Nothing to fear though, we will return with much more content and a few new faces. We promise 2 new Frontline chapters, a fully operation Brood War section, and forums for your feedback! We shall open our doors again to celebrate the new year, January 1st. So in case we forget, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Sincerely, StarCraft Center Staff
P.S.: Any comments or ideas can still be sent to: thomps23@techline.com

StarCraft for Mac - Aiel @ 10:46 PM
Do not read this if you are a Mac user!! I am just kidding but you are sure going to be disappointed. Blizzard has announced today that StarCraft will not be released until January of 1999 for Mac users. Here is the quote for all interested parties:

"Blizzard Entertainment announced today that the Macintosh version of StarCraft will not be available before the end of the year. Although the single and multiplayer components are fully balanced and complete, Blizzard continues to work on the conversion of the campaign editor. Blizzard remains dedicated to the Macintosh community and is truly disappointed that the product's release date has been pushed into January 1999. The Macintosh StarCraft team will continue to work diligently through the holidays and is committed to finalizing the game as quickly as possible. "

SC 1.04 info - Squaredot @ 5:02 PM
Shlonglor has posted some info about 1.04. He said the patch won't come out until after the Finals in the Starcraft Tournament. BTW, that is tomorrow :). Lots of things have changed and you can check out Shlonglor's post about it here. Some things that I saw surprised me, like the increased build time of hydras and the greater spire. GP's already take a long time to build, sheesh :). Anway, this is not a final copy of the changes, some things have been left out.

SpaceDominator Updates Excited! - SpaceDominator @ 4:55 PM
My Copy of Brood Wars will probably be given to me, on December 25th, 1998, Maybe if Lucky the day before. Now, what will this mean.. I will probably test the game out, Give opinions, write some New Strategies and then play some more. I can't wait to see, what all of the different units do for myself. The SCM Section will also add support for the New SCM's. The SC Puzzles will now, begin to start including Brood War Units in them, to make it interesting. In Other Words, sections that I create will support Brood War from now on. Now, I have to get the Zerg Inbalance Article Up soon! Also, thanks for the positive response from the Puzzles. This will also mean that the Beat the Staff thing will probably be done through "BROOD WARS." Maybe not? Maybe Yes. We'll see. I'm just a little excited... In summary, the SCM and Strategy Page will go through some revamping in the next couple of days. To prepare for Brood War and ......... Well? You'll see! My Christmas Surprises will be coming up soon, so be on the look out! , NOPE not yet! Well. See ya guys later.
Thanks,
SpaceDominator

Movie review - Star Trek: Insurrection - Agelmar @ 10:33 PM
If you haven't already seen Star Trek: Insurrection, you have to see it. It is a must see for all Star Trek fans. Even if you are not the biggest Star Trek fan, it is still definitely worth seeing. Insurrection has the BEST special effects, the best plot, which is native to Star Trek, great believibility, if you haven't seen it, get off your computer and go now! Even if you have to pay $5000000000 it's still worth it. Go see it! Now! Why are you reading this? GO SEE IT!
Why are you still reading this? You should be in your car/on your bike headed over to the movie theater to see Insurrection!!! What's that? You've already seen it? Didn't you just love it? Now you want to go see it again... yes... you do! It was sooo good you know you cannot live unless you see it 3 times in a row. What? you don't have time? Sure you do! Take a vacation... and watch Star Trek: Insurrection!
Why are you still reading this????? You should be watching Star Trek: Insurrection!!!! Go!!! Now!!!
I'm going to kill you if you dont go now! GO! You know you want to see it...
Still reading? You're pathetic. Get off your but and go watch the movie!!! Gawd...
If you are still reading this, i have given up all hope for you. You are a pathetic creature who is not watching Star Trek: Insurrection right now. All hope for you is lost. Go to bed!

Blizz Gfx problems - Get it together! - Agelmar @ 10:24 PM
Come on Blizzard! What's the problem? Whenever people visit your page, over 70% of your graphics do not show! Why is this? Is it because of low network capacity? If so, why don't you add additional bandwidth to your web server? Its quite annoying to try and use your pages without the graphical menu, much less all the pictures that we come to see! For example: on the BW page, i went to see the screenshots on the bottom of the page. Only two showed up! Get it together guys!

Situational Strategies, New Story Up! - SpaceDominator @ 6:50 PM
Hello, Again. The Situational Strategy page is NOW up. Currently there is 1 strategy in the Situational Strategy area, and expect more. Possibly 1 a day for a little while. It all depends on how much time I get. Just thought I'd tell you about that. Also.. there is a New Story Up! written by me, about a game of Starcraft that I feel demonstrates the purpose of working as a team. That's All..... for now....
Thanks,
SpaceDominator

Three days of headlines on the main page - Agelmar @ 4:16 PM
As you may have noticed, a while ago we decided to put only the current headlines on the main page, but still keep three days of news on the news page. Due to huge demand, we have restored the main page to include three days of headlines. Hope ya like it!

BW not gold yet! - Overlord @ 12:16 AM
I just saw a post over at sc legacy where Shlonglor talks about bw NOT being gold yet. Here it is:

For those of you that have missed my many posts on the subject, BW does *not* go gold at midnight. The beta is ending at midnight. It's easy to assume that after the beta ends that the game is close to going gold but it has not yet gone gold. When It does go gold i'll let you know. Until then all dates/guesses as to when the game goes gold is pure specualtion on other people's parts.

When it does go gold, I'll post on all the forums (please make sure it's a blue blizzard name by it), the fan sites will be alerted, and the main page will be updated. Believe me when it does go gold you will know.

Thanks.

Brood War Beta Is Over!!! - Overlord @ 9:34 PM
I just got a e-mail from blizzard. Here's what it said:

Final Beta Squadron Alert:

Sunday, December 13th at 12:00 midnight PST will be the official closing of the Starcraft: Brood War Battle.net beta. We cannot express our thanks enough for the stalwart and heroic efforts of our Beta Squadron of testers. Your feedback on the balance and feel of the game has been invaluable and greatly helped make Brood War the game that it has become.

We have some real surprises in store within the single-player Campaigns that we anticipate are going to knock your socks off. This, together with some incredible cinematic sequences and an even more solid multi-player balance, is destined to dominate your Christmas and take you well into the New Year.

See you on Battle.net!

StarDraft SE beta - Squaredot @ 6:31 PM
King Aurthur has sent me an email about StarDraft beta he just released. He said he fixed a lot of bugs from the alpha. It also says in the email that his will be the last version of Stardraft, unless some major bugs are found. Here is a list of the changes:

- Marine stats now show up normally in Arsenal II
- The StarEdit Availability listbox now works with older versions of units.dat
- The Plugins.ini file no longer assumes files are stored on the G drive.
- Arsenal II's Upgrades Editor has gotten a face-lift to match the rest of Arsenal II
- The Upgrades Editor also now has a "Repeat" variable which was removed from earlier versions. This enables you to make certain upgrades repeat more than 3 times.
- The Installation process registers CWAD Archives to open with CWAD Manager when you double click on them in Windows.
- The Shortcuts placed in the Start Menu now work properly.
I downloaded the Alpha when it came out and I was a little dissapointed about the bugs. Now I am going to download it as soon as I finish uploading this post!

StarDraft Special Edition Beta - Download.

Arsenal II - Download.
(does not include the CWAD Registration fix, the Shortcut fix, or the Plugins.ini fix)

Brood War Information - SpaceDominator @ 5:45 PM
A quite a bit late, but more pretty. The Starcraft Brood War information, that Blizzard released to the Beta Testers awhile back is now up. It's good information, and I'd take a look at it, if i were you BW Preview

Beat The SC Millennium Staff! - SpaceDominator @ 5:23 PM
O.K. The Official Beat the Staff event page is now up. The date is still sketchy, that could change to December 30th, and 31st. However, the point of it, is up. Take a look at it here. It's being run by me, and I'd like to know from the Community times you guys like, and or/dates starting the week of Christmas.. Maps might be The SCM's of the Week, from the start(March) to the end of the year..(December). Maybe Brood Wars will be out, and we can enjoy it through that instead! Well, we'll figure it out. I also want to say, that I will be writing some Situational Strategies, because they fit my Puzzles. If you have any Strategies that should be done in certain strategies, send them into me atspacedominator@scmillennium.com
Thanks,
SpaceDominator

All Right, everyone. More Updates. I have updated the Strategies page, by adding the Terran Unit Strategies, and a couple of beginning strategies. I also added the well-awaited, second Inbalance article. Not much, there. Just some possiblities of inbalance, take a look at that here. If you want to argue over those issues email me at spacedominator@scmillennium.com, like it says on the page. I also added some more Proposed Terran Changes, for inbalance. Thanks! Keep sendin things like that in!
