Ladder games aren't a big hit on StarCraft. Many avoid the games because of the slower games. I personally avoid them myself. Many StarCraft players would start to play ladder games if the speed could be set to fastest. You can petition for the faster ladder games here: http://www.PetitionOnline.com/scaddict/. Nah I think the speed is fine. Many hardcore ladder players agree that the speed is fine. The fastest speed creates two problems: a chance for worse lag, and a rushed game. The fastest speed is known to cause some lag, and sometimes disconnects. Also, a fastest ladder game would make the game too fast. For instance, a Protoss wouldn't have much time to micro his 8 dragoons against 8 zealots because the speed is too fast. The fast speed is intended to aid players during battle. Trust me, once you get in ladder games that go past 15 minutes, you will be glad the speed is at fastest.
