Beat The Staff Organized Final Information
Beat the Staff Is Back:
A classic event in the history of the Starcraft Community, returns to life on
Battle.Net.
Welcome to Beat the Staff, the most exciting evening or evenings of Starcraft
and Brood War action on Battle.Net. Beat the Staff is an event that can get very
competitive but is also one of the more entertaining events that I've had the pleasure of
running here at Starcraft Millennium. The reason that Beat the Staff began, was simple.
Not many websites have given you(the community) a chance to actively participate in the
game that you are fans of. In this case, we decided to let our outstanding skill at the
game of Starcraft do the talking. What is your objective at Beat the Staff? It's a fairly
simple answer but it requires some thought. =)
In Beat the Staff, it's a battle to the end between two very formidable sides. The
Starcraft Millennium staff, headed up by Agelmar and more importantly SpaceDominator vs
The Starcraft Community, anybody who is willing to play for fun. Each game in the
competition is worth 1 point. At the end of the evening, we will tally up
all of the points and the side that has the most points at the end of the evening gets
bragging rights until the next Beat the Staff. However, throughout each of the evenings
there will be some other chances for both sides to gain additional points to sway the
table either way.
There are a couple of games that will count as more then one point which can be
extremely valuable in determing the winner of the competition. These are as follows:
1) Last Game of the Evening- The last game of the evening is worth
3 points to the final score. The game that is counted as the Last Game of the Evening is
the last game that I have recieved information about.
2) The 9:00 PM FFA- Each BTS will usually start at 7:00 PM EST on
whichever evening has been selected. At 9:00 PM EST, everybody will be requested to return
back to the home channel for BTS. We will be fitting as many as 8 players into a FFA. The
side who has the winner of the FFA, wins. Does that mean this is technically like a big
4v4? Oh, yes.. However, have you ever heard of mutiny? =) Winner of the FFA gets 2 points
for their team.
However, above all this competition is meant for fun. It's not meant for the
community to clobber the members of the Starcraft Millennium staff and gloat about their
15-1 victory. However, it's a great chance for the Starcraft Millennium staff to signify
themselves as a decent group of players, who are out to do one thing. That is to play the
game that we know we all like best, Starcraft.
You will always know when the next BTS is. I will be screaming about it in the
news. You will know about the competition at least 2-3 days in advance to give you some
time to prepare for the defeat.
Also, to keep things consistant with how they were before, we will accept
challenges from individual clans/webpages/the such. Those games will NOT count towards the
scores for the evening but we will be keeping a running total for each webpage/clan
willing to do this. In the past, we had formed a very friendly rivalry with BW Dynasty.
Let's form some more. If you are interested in a series such as this, bug me about it in
the channel and/or email me about it beforehand.
Please also note that we'll accept any and all replays of games that are played at
BTS. Battle Reports are 500x better because they give the players a better feel of your
thoughts and actions in the game. Send any of those to me at spacedominator@scmillennium.com.
I invite everyone to come to BTS. It is more fun then watching a cheap-pornographic
film. All right, I suppose I shouldn't be getting into our staff's life beyond SC. Ah,
just show up for BTS that's all that matters..
