The Editorials of Canon
I would like to ask you a question to begin
I would like to ask you a question to begin; Are you a good loser? If you can
answer yes to this, I commend you. This shows a respect to the better person in
whatever situation that you may be participating in.
Over the last 3 years, as I have been playing online games, mostly Starcraft/Broodwar, I
have noticed a significant decline in respect to better players, ever since the
introduction of hacks/trainers. I admit I'm not a great Starcraft player, but I can
usually defeat most people. When I win, I am ridiculed as a hacker. For
example, I was playing a fellow at one point, who asked me, "How did you know I had
an expansion you hacker?" I went on to tell him that there was an observer
after he disconnected from the game Is this sad or what?
When a good player wins, it is because of skill. Some new players don't accept this.
For example, once when Phobos and I were playing a 2v2, Phobos went heavy metal,
and I tried Phobos' nuke strat. About 7 minutes into the game, "Nuclear launch
detected." What did they do? The proceeded to call us hackers, and one of
them even disconnected. I find this insulting.
I will close this editorial by leaving you this: Lose. Lose a lot. I don't
mean intentionally lose, but play BETTER players, until you can beat them. Then and
only then can you call yourself a good player.
