Battle Report:

Title: The True Purpose of Starcraft; Fun.
Author: SpaceDominator
Game Rules: No Rush 5 Minutes.
MVP(Besides Me): Whoopedass
*Note*: This Battle Report was written in a sense of unseriousness but it is still interesting to read. I insult my Quake 2 skills(which I should but won't describe.) Still, it is written serious enough for entertainment to be conjunctered into the
Participants(Let's see if I remember this.) SpaceDominator, PostalMan and Iamgoingtogetwhoopedass vs Godfather, Unknown and Adamjaskie
Well. This may seem a very strange title for a battle report written by me. To note, this game was played yesterday at a computer networking shop down in Downtown Ann Arbor. This Battle Report was formed to demonstrate that even though these people may all be new players into the game of Starcraft; they gave a challenge to my partners. Indeed, a challenge to my partners. Anyways, the map we played on was a suprising but kind choice made by Godfather, of (8)Homeworld.scm. The colors on the image are incompatible with the ones we played with, but I'll say this. My team was all on the left side of the map. I was in the bottom left, Iamgoingtogetwhoopedass(who will be refered as whoopedass) was at the fabled 9:00 clock spot and PostalMan(or something on this order) was in the upper right. For the rest of the introduction, GodFather was located at 6:00.(hehe.), Adamjaskie was in the bottom right and Unknown was up in the upper right.
*Please Note*, this game was played with a bunch of players that I now know and respect in Quake 2. Please do not ask about the 40-50 times killed vs 10 kills in Quake. This was my revenge, thus applying a whooping on this three sorry fellows.
*Please also Note*, that there are NO Screenshots except that I dominated the game. Want to know how? Let's read on.

When we all were introduced into the original gaming screen, I used the skills of Mental Strategy #1, written by yours truly to begin to not worry about the task at hand. The awkward thing was everyone in this room had a preference for race, except for myself(who took the power of the God's, and not Michigan's) who selected random. I ended up Terran, with PostalMan and Whoopedass(a name selected by the good guy which was already in the collective of names at this shop.) ended up Zerg. Our opponents ended up being Protoss/Terran and Protoss. Thus meaning for an interesting battle of wills. Please note, Whoopedass never played the game of  Starcraft before! PostalMan, has had some experience. Anyways, the build orders selected by me and whoopedass were of very strange importance. I will not detail the number of peasant's in whoopedass's selected build order however, this was humorous.

Whoopedass(Game order)
Drones
Spawning Pool
Evolution Chamber
Extractor
Hydralisk Den
Upgrade
1 Sunken Colony
1 Spore Colony
Spire
Queen's Nest
Upgrade
Greater Spire Upgrade
Defiler Mound
Ultralisk Den
*Please note*, He built every building in the game and unit wise built 3 hydralisks until... later.

Anyways, I started off by doing what I call an "SCV Buildup." To put it simply I continued to build SCV's until I got up to 9 and built a Barracks and a Supply Depot. Please note, I built the supply depot at my right CHOKE point. This idea is an efficient idea because of the Supply Depot's armor and 500 hit points allows for my bunkers to defend safely. True, I knew the house rule was that we couldn't rush in 5 minutes. A simple rule but you need to be defended for whatever could occur in the game. I've seen people on Battle.Net do a lot of creative rushes to me, and I did NOT want to be humiliated for approximatly 2-3 years of Experience in this game. Anyways, my partner PostalMan did help out a quite a bit. He was apparently taking a risky route up the tree, he built 1-2 sunken colonies but had a defense worthwhile in Zerglings. How about me on the other hand? Well, I continued to enforce my defense by building another supply depot at BOTH of my choke points now, and then ENFORCED them with bunkers. I also constructed an Academy and built a comsat station. After waiting a couple of minutes I was able to reveal the locations of both Adam and Travis(which will be referred to as Unknown). The idea was again to keep me defended from an attack from either location, however the Right location was where I felt the most danger.

To continue, GodFather(Daniel) sent in 1 zealot apparently and it was creamed by my defense of 2 supply depots and 2 bunkers behind it. This was the only attack against me and my team throughout the entire game. After this I decided to build up a Factory and a Starport. I continued to enforce my defense even more with Seige Tanks and waited until I could construct air units. I never planned on this strategy. I placed two seige tanks in my dropship and I was going to originally drop on Adam but.. then I saw the majestical ball of opportunity, and I found Godfather at the bottom center. He had his choke points beautifully defended but the guts of his base were UNDEFENDED. So I dropped in and killed most of his probes. He did kill this first wave but that sent him out the gazoo very quickly. I continued to pressure him with these drops. PostalMan helped by giving air support of 3 mutalisks. This strategy was effective and we were able to eliminate his base from the inside out. Remember Whoopedass is continuing that build order above with 3 hydralisks! After that, me and our team cheered a silent cheer and we knew that due to this attack we had knocked the advantage from very neutral to our advantage 3v2. Please note: Daniel(GodFather) still had one dark Templar before we destroyed his base. =) I first expanded into the above expansion location. Then I continued my push with the assistance of Wraiths that I continued to build w/Cloaking and placed my seige tanks AGAIN in the same Dropship. This time, the strategy was again the same. View his base(w/comsat), do a little thinking. Again the base on the inside was UNDEFENDED. So, I pushed my drop for the second time killing his SCV's. However, my friend Adam(the enemy) had seige tanks and other units ready to defend. Meanwhile, Whoopedass is continuing his build order. PostalMan was morphing his mutalisks into guardians which started to beat at his units; while I continued my drop on Adam. Again, after a while this strategy continued to show it's efficiency by diminshing Adam's base. However, Adam was able to successfully able to escape and start constructing a base with the few minerals that they had.

After we knew Adam was pretty much Toast as well, we eliminated Daniel to allow for him to play some other game through the server  alone however. Now the question at hand was how to handle the battle-worn Travis(Unknown). Our friend PostalMan then went over to Whoopedass, and revealed a secret to build the Ultralisk cavern so he did. However, the first thing that was done was two ZERGLING rushes by both of my teammates which were expected to wear out Travis's picturebook defense at his choke point. He had cannons supported properly by pylons. He used Arbiter's efficently to cloak his units while they started to attempt to diminish my base. I then expanded into Adam's base; giving me my 3rd expansion. When I comsated his base, I saw the same type of pattern as I saw in the other two; no defense really on the inward bound. What did I do? Took my dropship with seige tanks and eliminated most of his Probe's as well. Which ended up knocking him out of Minerals to efficiently do whatever he wished. He did construct carriers and other units but he forgot something; Detection. I was able to send in 3 wraiths cloaked and was able to destroy his carriers. However, it took a while because he continued to move them towards his cannons; it successfully worked once. Finally though we had the most nifty thing happen. Whoopedass the character who we haven't said much about built 7 Ultralisks and sent them in at Unknown. This first wave was an attack from the top, where Adam had built part of his base at. The ultralisks started to damage and did a quite a bit of damage to this wave. Throughout this period of time I was continually building Wraiths/Seige Tanks and do to my Science Facility w/Physics Labs, I started to build Battlecruisers. Whoopedass continued to march in at Unknown with a bunch of Ultralisks. This time he came in from the front and demolished the original cannons allowing for me to send in my cloaked wraiths to eliminate the Carriers and eliminate key pylons to shut down the power of the Protoss's base. This idea I will have to credit to PostalMan because this idea helped us briefly. We then continued and demolished Unknown. Below Adam had a base which I was demolishing with 2 wraiths cloaked and 1-2 minutes later they were gone! Then the Guardians came in, the Ultralisks came in and my Battlecruiser came in to eliminate Adam and guarantee Victory for the home team!

SD Reacts

I have never had as much fun playing Starcraft with this 5 other Ninth graders since the original Starcraft beta. Whenever you get the opportunity to bring together a large group of friends and play a Team game with them, you get one of the most rewarding situations. Now, there was something very different about this atmosphere though. The teams were talking to each other throughout the room; including my team. It was humorous listening to all of the discussions and listening to all of the swearing of the drops that I was able to destroy the fundamental law of Starcraft. Money. These drops were by no means perfect, and out of the 18 drop attempts, 15 of them were successful. They were eventually stopped but they did damage with made them successful. In other words, destroying 10-15 units was good. Demolishing some Cannons effectively. It's important to understand that these players are NOT all of the greatest experience. Though, Daniel and Travis both have played it regularly. Whoopedass(Ben), as I have said never played it before but he made the biggest impact in finishing the game off; so I rewarded it to him. PostalMan's moves were also extremely helpful in the attacks we did and his gameplay has to be commended as well. Adam also was brand new so the teams were very fair.
It was a great game.

Quake 2 Woes

Yes, this battle report was 15/16th's Starcraft but I think this will entertain you all the most. We began by playing Quake 2 Arena; which is a very creative game. It is a shoot em up game but it is a team game. The teams throughout this generally changed. We had a new comer as well; named Ash.(he worked at the place) He was the king of us all, in this game. Like I said above I died approximatly 40-50 times throughout the 6 levels and I killed a total of 10-12 people. Pretty good ratio huh? The idea is your trying to have your team kill ALL of the members of your opponents team before they do the same against you. It's hard to reenact this. However, I will say that my favorite weapon is the "Shotgun", I used it throughout the game and had the most efficiency with it. Anyways, don't challenge me to Quake 2, because I first of all, don't have it and second and most importantly you'll clobber me every time.

Lessons Learned
#1: Playing with Friends is much more rewarding of an experience then ever imagined. I had dreams of doing this with this people in Warcraft 2(BNE edition we can now do it!) =)
#2: Comsat Station's don't need to be the Terran's only true mean of Detection. They can also detect the locations of opponents efficiently which could give you possibilities on how to destroy their bases. In this case, it was drops but if you note things about their base; you can find the way to defeat it.
#3: When you work as a team; the possibilities are endless. Even with a new player or two.
#4: Communication is essential. This is something that is done throughout Battle.Net through typed words being submitted through the internet cables. However, we verbally talked to each other.
#5: Percussion Players can play Starcraft! Yes. Me and PostalMan play percussion. Now you know how we became so good at the drums, which easily transpired into Starcraft.(Yeah Right, I am absolutly horrific to listen to at the drums.) PostalMan on the other hand.. is pretty good. =)

Lessons They Learned
#1: They learned that the power of the Terran Drops are extremely powerful and effective at eliminating the fundamental part of an opposing base.
#2: They learned that a defence inside of a base is important for the reason above. If they would of had a couple of missle turrets or a bunker inside of that area they could of been able to possibly stop my drops. However, it was a nice attempt.
#3: Teamwork is essential. You cannot abandon each of your members of your own team; you need to come up with a strategy that will allow for you and your teammates to come up with a strategy that is efficient enough to defeat your foes.
#4: Attacking is always something important to do. Even with just one or two attacks; you could of caused me or my partners to stop the agressive attitude to allow for them to defend themselves a little better/killing my base. If they would NOT have had the rush rule in effect, I would of assumed a double rush at me and would of reacted with more bunkers.
#5:(To the best of my knowledge) A piano, A violin and a Trombone don't make pretty music together. =)

Thanks again guys. It was a ton of fun!
