Speed. Mental. Two words that fit together very, very well. The speed of a game affects the mind in several different ways. Why? When you play at Slowest you need to be thinking slower and you are usually more anxious for the game to get over with. While on Fastest your playing at a pretty quick speed and it has now become the standard for playing. Is it good? Let's take a look at each of the speeds and how it can effect you mentally.

Fastest-
The standard of playing the game of Starcraft. Why? The speed of Fastest gives you that realistic feeling of playing a game of Starcraft, it is running at a very quick speed which means the game takes much less time to complete. You usually think about this when you play a Fastest game and you may not even know about it. You know that the game is going to be quick, but everyone else gets that quickness too. These games are the games where the true 3 minute rushes can occur, and that's why it is such a popular tactic in Fastest games. Do you ever see a rush game on Normal? Of course not. Mentally you think quick, and you play quick.

Faster-
A speed that gives you the MOST realistic feeling of playing the game of Starcraft. It is just a little bit shorter then Fastest but it goes along quick enough. It is the most prefered speed to be played at by more advanced people. In a faster game you really think just like you do in Fastest mode. You are thinking about the gaming going very quick, and upbeat. However 3 minute rushes won't happen as often. They'll probably be closer to 5 minute rushes. However, that is still a very quick rush. Mentally think quick again, and you'll play pretty quick again.

Fast-
You usually don't see a game with the mode of Fast except for the most famous one: Ladder. All Ladder games are set to the speed of Fast which means you think professionally. However you are getting awfully close to normal here. This speed is just a bit about average, and about 7 minute rushes proove the day. You'll find that this mode you can get very used to, without it seeming slow. However, if you get any slower people will complain about the speed.

Normal-

A rarity. You don't usually see games played on Normal. However, this is a speed that actually isn't too bad to play on. 10 Minute Rushes are probably a common part of the Normal Speed. This is what Blizzard probably was hoping that would be the most famous, because this is the speed that Blizzard expects most people to play on. Or at least they did. IF you ever play a game on Normal, just play your style and don't get too inpatient.

Slow-

Even rarer. Slow? Have you ever played your daily game on Slow? I know I sure haven't. The average rush from what I've heard on slow is around 13 minutes.(Remember we are talking about a Zergling rush). Slow is a very difficult mode to get used to playing because the SCV's take a quite a bit of time to do their normal resource run that everyone is used to in a quick amount of time.

Slower-
Rarer by the Minute. Maybe 1 game every 2 years? Probably. Slower takes around 15 minutes to do a normal rush, and it is EXTREMELY Difficult to get used to.. Your brain is usually thinking come on stupid thing speed up. Your mind won't like you playing on Slower.

Slowest-

An SCV gathers a mineral in about 1 minute. That's about what it seriously does on the Slowest mode. It will usually take you about 20-35 minutes to run a simple rush. You will never want to play on Slowest unless you have 4-6 hours to kill.

In Conclusion, your Brain reacts to each of the different Speeds of Starcraft in different ways, and it should help effect your choice of what speed you want to play at.
