Mental Strategies

Part

Part #3 of The Mental Strategies Series:

Title: Newbies: An Expert's Worst Enemy(Why They Don't have to be!!)

The Term Newbie. When someone hear's that word in a chat of some sort, usually people become a little bit spooked. Just ask Agelmar(my best friend!) he is one that will LEAVE a game instantly if he finds out that there is a newbie in a Normal Game of Starcraft. Do you blame him? Most people say No. I say Yes, because this newbie could become the next Blacklizzard or Zileas! Especially if they have a great teacher of the game that they play. Instead of leaving a game with a Newbie in it, offer to be on their team. Imagine your on a Kickball field, there are 19 people each side only needs 9 people to play.. One person gets left out, who is that person usually the NEWBIE.. Why would anyone want to be mean to someone that has never done something before? To be cruel, to be mean.. That's probably a cause that some people might use. Another point that experts make is: Well they're gonna cost me a loss on my record. WHO  CARES!! It's a game. Not Life or death. If life was based on Records, it would be the Fittest survive and the weak don't. Me being skinny, and not too strong I would HATE THAT! People need to treat people fairly, if someone needs to know something TELL them. If someone wants to learn how to play a game TEACH THEM. It would make the Community a ton better, and a new quote that fits "The More You Teach Beginners, the Less Beginners you have." How do you teach them, you may ask. Well support them when they ask what a building does, tell em. Here's a sample:

SpaceDominator: You have any Questions about the Terran Race, before we begin John?

John: Yeah, I would like to know the purpose of a Vulture.

SpaceDominator: Vultures are very average units that can lay mines and help defend a base. Also they do 20 damage which makes them a great support unit for Rushing, and other purposes.

John: If I would of known that in Single Player I would of killed em really easily!

SpaceDominator: hehe

The Point to that, is that you have made the newbie feel better and he made a little joke on top of it. Now, the Newbie knows what Vultures can do and use that concept to help them win games and become an Average player(not considered a newbie). Just think about this.. If you teach a newbie how to play the Terran Race at first and they win 10 games, and become ranked in Ladder.. you have accomplished something that is so great it would make emotional people cry(CRIES!!). Newbies are Newbies until people help them understand the game to become better. You cannot just expect a newbie to become an expert in one try! Be patient! In Life Newbies are Children they are people that want to become Adults so they are better at something. Adults are Average players, and Grandparents or Elders are Experts because they've done it for a long time. Here's the point: If you help Newbies, they'll help you in return by being kind and maybe even giving you opportunities to work on Webpages or Businesses in my opinion. Newbies can also become your role model and can really make you feel better about yourself. Agelmar it would make you become a REAL expert at SC(instead of being a showoff in SC) : )

In Conclusion, Helping Newbies is the way to be and teaching newbies makes the Communities a better place to stay and enjoy for longer periods of time.
